Thanks to a continued strengthening La Nina pattern (-1.5 deg C) the month saw deep layered high pressure persist over or near the Florida region. This created sinking and warming air (subsidence) which made for a record dry month. Temperature wise the month was slightly below normal, the first month without warmer than normal temperature since April. 

 

The rainfall total for October was the driest month observed at this location for the past 5 years of records. It was also the driest as measured from several other locations on the west central peninsula region going back to 1965.
